Australian Local Authority Facing Anger For Euthanizing Rescue Dogs Under Interpretation Of Covid Rules

The Office of Local Government in Australia has launched an investigation  on  whether companion animal and cruelty prevention laws have been broken by a local authority in the North West of the country, following reports that 15 impounded dogs, due to be rescued by a shelter, have been shot dead under an interpretation of the covid rules.

According to the Sydney Herald,  Bourke Shire Council  killed the dogs to prevent volunteers at a Cobar-based animal shelter from travelling to pick up the animals last week. The news has sparked anger across the country. A spokesman from the government agency said it was investigating the claims..
