A 2027 target for the completion of Dublin's MetroLink was "never likely to be achievable".
That's according to the Minister for Transport who has indicated the transport service would not be delivered by 2027, as laid out in the current National Development Plan.
MetroLink is a new light rail system that will provide a link between Dublin city and the airport as well as serving North Dublin - plans were first unveiled for it in 2005.
The new National Development Plan is due to be published in October.
The Dublin Commuter Coalition is criticising the Transport Minister for failing to explain why there is to be further delays to the Metro Link.
In a statement, the Commuter Coalition said the people of North Dublin deserve more than the confusion and rumours surrounding the project over the last number of days.
