City centre areas in Limerick, Galway and Dublin have all lost their "clean" rating - as an annual litter survey returned the worst results in over a decade.
Bray ranks 19th on the list of 40 locations, coming in at clean to European Norms. Gorey is ranked at 30th with Carlow 33rd, both described as moderately littered. Dublin Airport ranks at 13th on the list of 40 locations around the Country, coming in at clean to European Norms. But Ballymun and Dublin city centre are rated as moderately littered, with Dublin North inner city on the bottom of the table as seriously littered.
Irish Business Against Litter says it’s the worst year for urban areas in their survey since 2007.
IBAL says there’s more litter from outdoor drinking and people dropping disposable masks and gloves.
Spokesperson Conor Horgan says the impact of the pandemic can be seen on the street.
