A 34 year old Dublin man found guilty last August of murdering his former partner at her home in Arklow, just before Christmas in 2019, is due to be sentenced today.
Daniel Murtagh, of Melrose Grove, Clondalkin in Dublin, had admitted manslaughter but denied murdering Nadine Lott, claiming he was intoxicated and didn’t mean to hurt her, but his plea was rejected by the DPP.
Nadine died in hospital on December 17th 2019 – three days after Murtagh subjected her to a vicious beating.
On the 5th of August, the jury returned a unanimous guilty of murder verdict after just under six hours of deliberations. Murtagh faces a mandatory life sentence, which is due to be imposed today.
