SIPTU Calls On Government To Take Back Control Of Waste Collection

SIPTU wants a meeting with Minister Eamon Ryan to deal with what it calls failures in waste collection

A new policy by the Government on managing rubbish has been launched, which includes halving food waste over the next 10 years and recycling targets for collectors.
However, the union has described Ireland as "the wild west" with multiple providers within each council area, saying waste collection should be solely dealt with by the local authority.
