Violence Continued Overnight In The North

Water cannon and police dogs were used on a large group of rioters as violence in Northern Ireland continued last night.

Crowds faced off with PSNI officers on both sides of the Lanark Way late into the evening, with the worst of the trouble breaking out this time on the Springfield Road.
Attempts by rioters to blockade the street, were disrupted by locals at one point, who took away burning pallets. The rioting is the worst the city's seen for years, which involved children as young as 12 and has so far left 55 police officers injured.
Post-Brexit trade and the decision not to prosecute anyone for attending a large gathering for a nationalist funeral is being blamed for violence.
