Travel Talk visited the famous Martinique New York on Broadway Curio Collection by Hilton and chatted with Dan Briks the General Manager. Prior to assuming the General Manager position at this historic hotel, Dan served as the General Manager of the Millennium Hilton One UN Plaza, located adjacent to the United Nations headquarters. A seasoned New York City hospitality veteran with over 20 years of experience, Dan began his career at The Waldorf Astoria New York where he started in the hotel’s Management Development Program. Over the course of 11 years at The Waldorf, he held roles in the Rooms Division, Food and Beverage, and Engineering before being appointed the Executive Assistant Manager of the iconic property. After his tenure at The Waldorf Astoria New York, Dan was the Hotel Manager at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel and the Lexington Hotel. Dan holds a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Business from Michigan State University and is on the Board of Directors of Michigan State University’s School of Hospitality Business. Dan is also on the Board of Directors of the Hotel Association of New York City and was recently induced into the Waldorf Astoria Distinguished Alumni Association. Outside of work, Dan enjoys traveling, experiencing New York’s dining scene, and cheering on his MSU Spartans and hometown Atlanta Braves.
