The Mournes and Unesco Geopark Areas of Outstanding Beauty
On this evenings Sunday Show we continue our journey across Northern Ireland when we chat to guests Darren Rice and Chris McBlain from the Mournes areas of outstanding beauty, the Unesco Geopark and some wild river dipping at mourneshack.com
It is believed that the Mourne mountains of Northern Ireland were “born of fire and shaped by ice”, moulded from 400 million years of geological history into a landscape of dark peaks, drowned glacial lakes and lush green farmland, criss-crossed by ancient stone walls.
The geopark includes three areas of natural beauty: the Ring of Gullion, the Mourne mountains with the 850-metre peak of Slieve Donard, and the stunning wildlife area of Strangford Lough, which is actually the UK’s largest coastal lough
Darren Rice chats to Ed Finn on The Sunday Show
